During my quest to find the video oddities from the 1990s, this video popped up. I used to have the CD version of Saturday Morning: Cartoon's Greatest Hits. This was one of my first CD purchase along with Pearl Jam's Merkinball. I made this purchase at Sam Goodies in the mall at the ripe old age of 13. I think I listened to that Pearl Jam EP and Saturday Morning 100 times. With all of that said, watching this hour video floods my brain with memories. I remember studying the liner notes of this CD as if I had an exam in the morning. I remember listening to this through headphones to hear every note. Looking back at doing these…
'I'm feeling very like a Fellini film right now.' - Drew Barrymore
This is a total nostalgia trip, so I'm breaking most of my rating rules. In middle school, the Saturday Morning: Cartoons’ Greatest Hits CD was in my top five. It’s still one of my favorite compilation albums. Seriously, check out the lineup:
Liz Phair with Material Issue - The Tra La La Song (One Banana, Two Banana)
Sponge - Go Speed Racer Go
Mary Lou Lord With Semisonic - Sugar Sugar
Matthew Sweet - Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?
Juliana Hatfield And Tanya Donelly - Josie And The Pussycats
Collective Soul - The Bugaloos
Butthole Surfers - Underdog
Helmet - Gigantor
Ramones - Spider-Man
Reverend Horton Heat - Jonny…i like being a couch potato lounge lizard loser... with sour cream.
Total 90's cheesefest hosted by Drew Barrymore who sleeps in full make-up and a candy necklace. Thanks to @RichStrahs we got to watch this on Saturday morning and my daughter got introduced to Wax's awesome version of 'Happy, Happy, Joy,Joy', which everyone needs in their life. I think her favorite, though, was the Spider Man theme by The Ramones.
Didn’t see this specifically but for my KW friends out there, you gotta go to one of the Apollo Cinema’s “Saturday Morning Cartoons and All You Can Eat Cereal” events. Went to my first one this morning - what a blast!
